The Green Dragon - Taunton Deane

I visited The Green Dragon this week for our Valentine's Day meal. The restaurant was beautiful and clean inside, and the staff were welcoming. When we sat down to order drinks, I noticed they had a gin menu on the table, which was convenient. The starters looked amazing, though the calamari was slightly overcooked. However, the garlic mushroom dish was perfect. We both ordered steak for our main course, but they brought our plates to the table mixed up, with my boyfriend receiving my steak. Additionally, we were not provided with steak knives and no one checked on us to see if we needed any. Despite these issues, we still enjoyed our meal and would consider returning in the future.

I have eaten here a few times before, but I was really disappointed with the meal I had for my birthday, which also happened to be on Valentine's Day. I decided to try something different (usually we go to the White Horse in Bradford-on-Tone) and it was a mistake! The food was not great. Despite having a Valentine's Day menu, they only had a rib eye dish left (even though there were only six people dining). To make matters worse, the kitchen seemed overwhelmed and the service was slow. The restaurant was crowded and the lower floor where we were seated had a strong smell (which I later found out was due to drainage issues). The toilets were also dirty and had a strong odor. I couldn't wait to leave and won't be returning. They did comp our meal, but even then, my shrimp was overcooked.

This is a fantastic little pub in Wellington. The interior looks beautiful these days and the staff is very helpful. There are lots of options on tap to choose from, so if you're just looking for a drink, I would definitely recommend it. The food really stands out and I would gladly pay more for a quality meal here instead of getting something average from a nearby brewery-owned pub on the street.

We were staying locally as a family of and visited twice for dinner. Very friendly service, wide ranging menu and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend
