The cons: I ordered 12 wings with two sauces, but was charged for two completely separate orders at a $6 difference. When I questioned this, I was told that it was a requirement by the owner, but customers should have been informed. It seems like the management may have overlooked some important details for their customers. The total bill came to $113.00 for 14 slices of pizza, spaghetti, a side of wings, and two glasses of tea. So, take that as you will. Would I return? I would recommend trying other options before going back.
This review is not based on food as we never actually had a chance to eat here. We arrived for dinner at 6:00 on a Monday and the restaurant was busy. A waitress directed us to a table and we waited. Another waitress eventually came by and seemed confused about our order. We had requested a 12-inch pizza, a soda, and a water. She took our order on her iPad and brought us our drinks, but then we waited and waited. While everyone around us received their food, ate, paid, and left, we sat there with empty cups and no check-ins about a refill. When the restaurant finally emptied out, our waitress noticed us and went to check on our order. By 7:30, we were still hungry and when she said it would be even longer, we decided to leave. Unfortunately, it was a Monday night with few dining options available. We returned to our hotel in Ski Valley and settled for some crackers in our room. It was a very disappointing experience, to say the least.
This is my second time trying their pizza. The pizza is really good, but unfortunately, their customer service has not improved lately. If you want to quickly place your order, dine in. They also have a nice selection of beer. Update: We visited on Friday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised! Can you believe it? Their customer service has greatly improved! Fast and courteous. That's why I gave them another chance. Thank you for taking care of your customers.
Taos Pizza Outback is a sweet little place for pizza in Taos. The ingredients are fresh and tasteful, and their selection of designs beer is fun. But be warned, as the dough and the pizza are freshened with each order, wait 1 to 1.5 hours. Can't wait to go back!
Stopped in for lunch today. 4 slices, 3 salads, 4 drinks, 2 desserts. Our server was wonderful, she really made us feel welcome and taken care of. Food was mostly good, as it has been for the past 30 years that we've been eating here. However, one of our slices was raw and gummy. No big deal. It happens. It had a lot of wet toppings and we assumed it just changed the texture of the crust or something. It was the Shredder, which we get often and it's usually delicious, but this slice was much different than usual. The dough seemed kind of raw or something. Since it wasn't really edible we decided to mention it to the server, who was wonderful and immediately apologized and said she would see what she could do. When we got the check we saw that nothing had been discounted, and asked her about it. She said that the manager wasn't able to do anything for us. Since the slice wasn't edible, it kind of felt strange, so we asked to speak to the manager thinking that maybe she had misunderstood the situation. The server came back a few minutes later and said that the manager had done a 5 percent discount. The bill was just over $100, so we figured we would just let it go at this point. Until we realized that she had discounted....5 percent of the SLICE! .55 cents....At this point it felt very strange and we asked again to speak to the manager, thinking she must've made a mistake. She finally came to our table with the meanest attitude and said that she did indeed mean to discount 5 percent of the inedible slice and said that was all she was authorized to offer from the owner. When we asked if their policy was to not offer to remake the food or refund the food when it is inedible she visibly sneered. It was surreal. We gave the server a 20 percent tip and moved on with our lives, but are writing this in hopes that the owner will read and help her work on customer service, and customer relations. One of us is a local business owner, who sends out of towners to this restaurant, and the other is a local business manager who does the same. We are sisters and have been coming to Pizza Outback since we were young, and now bring the next generation of the family, as well as friends and colleagues in whenever we can. We have never been so insulted and had someone be so unbelievably....condescending? Inappropriate? Mean? in all of our years dining out. So disappointed.
