The food at this restaurant is absolutely incredible. If you haven't tried Ethiopian cuisine yet, you're truly missing a fantastic experience. If your only exposure has been from another spot in Tampa, you're still missing out. I used to live in an area with many Ethiopian restaurants, so I was excited when this one opened, and I was even more delighted after my first visit. Honestly, you need to check this place out. Enjoy the dishes with injera and uncover something truly wonderful.
This restaurant offers a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience. The dishes are incredibly fresh, healthy, and bursting with flavor, all at a very reasonable price. If you're open to trying something new and stepping outside of your comfort zone, this is a fantastic place to visit.
Super tasty, reasonable prices, and great vegetarian options! Owners we’re so kind:
I will preface my review by saying this was my first experience with Ethiopian food so I have nothing to compare it to but I enjoyed Mitmita. First off, the lady serving us was affable as I did not recognize anything on the menu but she was happy to explain everything and make recommendations. We tried all 3 sambusas, the buticha and the vegetarian platter for 2. The vegetarian sambusa was fine but the beef and chicken sambusas were a little more flavorful and had a little some heat to them which was good. The buticha, served with injera, was lemony and refreshing. Interesting dip that I would like to try making sometime. For the platter you get to choose 5 of the 6 vegetarian dishes to come served on a plate of injera with a side of injera. We chose the; pea flour, red lentils, split peas, collard greens, and the beet salad. We liked everything but the red lentils and collard greens really stood out. The collards were tangy and a good to counter to the more carb rich dishes. Whenever I cook red lentils I turn them to mush (which is usually what I'm going for so don't judge) and thought that that was typically how red lentils came out but the chef cooked the lentils to still have a little texture to them that was nice. Even though everything was served on injera it also came with a healthy serving of it on the side so you don't have to worry about running out. I definitely want to go back to try more stuff and I'm certain I'll be wowed but whatever I get as I enjoyed everything I tried.
