I have tried pupusas from various places in the surrounding area, each with its own unique style, and all have been delicious. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the pupusas at this particular restaurant. They were bland and lacked flavor, and the curtido was also disappointing with very little taste. Additionally, they did not serve it with the traditional Salsa Roja that typically complements the dish. I found the salsa they did provide to be different and not the same as what I was accustomed to. I cannot recommend trying the pupusas at this restaurant, as they are not up to par with what I have had in the past. Despite this, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. I will stick to enjoying pupusas downstate.
The empanadas I ordered were pretty tasty. The beef and chicken empanadas were seasoned similarly with taco seasoning, but I wished there was more depth of flavor. The beef empanadas I've had in the past were juicier, while these tasted more like sloppy joe. The chicken empanada was a bit dry and could have used more cheese. However, there was a generous amount of chicken and beef in each empanada. The breading was crispy and soft. They were priced around $2-3 each, so you get what you pay for. I would be willing to pay a bit more for higher quality. I plan on coming back to try more items from their food line system, where you can choose meats, rice, and sides for around $10-13.
This restaurant is too expensive for the quality of food they serve. I ordered the "large" plate, but it was a standard size. The rice and beans were mediocre, but the beef stew provided some flavor. I paid $16.20 for a basic bottled water. I have been to other Mexican restaurants that offer much better value for the price.
The food has always been tasty. We have been ordering here often since they opened. However, the amount they put in the container gets smaller every time we order. I ordered many things. Today, my personal plate was beef stew with yellow rice.Today that included 8 cubes of beef (yes I was petty enough to count them because I was surprised). To put it into perspective, look at the past reviews, they used to put the meat in both small sides of the container then the beans over the rice. The mealcosts $12. Rice and beans are really cheap to make.
Not bad! I ordered some empanadas and they were quite delicious. the bark meat and the huhn empanada tasted similar to Taco season. I think it could be more deep to them than just taco taste. some really good beef-emanadas, which I had tasted like juicy beef-fat, tasted almost as sloppy. I think the chicken was on the dry side, I would like to have more in it. on the bright side there was a tonnn and bark in the empanadas. the brot was good, slightly crispy and soft. they were like 2-3 dollars per piece, so they could argue that they get what they pay. if they were in quality, I would certainly pay an extra dollar or two. I come back to try more, they have a food management system that I did not try. in the round you can choose meat, rice and side for like 10 or 13 dollars.
