The Red Hen - Swedesboro

We wanted to try something new, and my daughter discovered this restaurant on a South Jersey food blog. They certainly didn’t disappoint! The food was amazing; we all chose different dishes, and everything was fantastic. My daughter had the All-American burger, and she said it was to die for. We decided to order the real crab fries to accompany our dinner instead of as an appetizer, and we were glad we did—they were so delicious! My husband tried the short rib pizza, though I can’t recall the exact name. He opted out of the horseradish sauce and only managed to eat three slices of his large pizza, so we took the rest home. I ordered the fettuccine with mushrooms and bacon, and it was so good. I will definitely be coming back again!

I visited for my birthday and had a fantastic experience! The staff was wonderful, and everything was amazing! We dined on the patio and had the best waitress, who even wrote "Happy Birthday" on my check and ensured I had a great celebration. The staff was also very sweet to my dog, Winter, bringing her a water bowl without me asking. I will definitely return to Red Hen!

There are excellent choices on the menu, catering to all tastes. I ordered the blush penne vodka, and it was a delightful dish. Another standout was the cornbread served with sweet butter—it was a true highlight of my meal. I highly recommend visiting if you get the opportunity!

The Red Hen is a great place for a meal. It’s a large restaurant, with a full bar and delicious food. The drinks were well made and generous. Our waitress was very attentive, the food came out quickly, and as ordered. Large family with kids at a nearby table had a great time and their monster cookie with ice cream looked delicious we had the bread pudding for dessert, and it was delicious. The restaurant is very manageable and accessible. There are steps leading up to the bar (from the restaurant side), but one could wheel in they the bar’s front door. There are tables outside as well (in front and at the back). Clean, large bathrooms. Street parking was easy, but there’s also a parking lot.

We dined at the Black Sheep (connected to the Red Hen), and it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere was beautiful and ethereal, the staff couldn’t have been more polite and accommodating, and the food was so good you’ll have to go yourself. The owner herself came to ask us how everything was. Not only this, but her and her staff created a special plate of their delicious Chocolate Ganache Tart with special message for a celebration. They were incredibly accommodating and all of the food was incredible. Lastly, it wouldn’t be doing the place justice to forget to mention their vast vegan and gluten free options. Vegetarian options: I am vegan and my mom is gluten free. There are vegan options, vegetarian options, and gluten free options. Along with combinations of all of the above so anyone can feel welcome and dine here stress free. However, they have items across the board; so anyone will find something the love here.
