Lyra Lou Cakes - Surrey

The quality and effort have clearly gone down by a lot in the last couple of years.We came to Lyra Lou Cakes back when it first opened, and the owner Lyra was so pleasant and friendly. You could tell they were doing their best to connect with the community and make a lasting positive impression.However, coming in today really showed that they no longer hold the same values and standards. For starters, we had to wait for about five minutes before being served, even though there was only one customer in front of us. The male staff member who served us was cold and indifferent; he made us feel like he really didn’t want to serve us but did because he had to. We ordered a few items and he disappeared into the kitchen. One customer came and went because she never got greeted or served.The Yema cupcake just tasted like a normal vanilla cupcake coated in nuts. Just like a previous reviewer mentioned, the Mango Con Yelo’s mango chunks were pear-like and had little to no taste (almost felt like they were bought frozen from a grocery store). The worst thing was the Black Forest 3” round cake that they had gotten from the front display. The chocolate base was tasteless, the cream’s texture felt curdled and the three cherries at the centre were frozen. The only good thing we got was the Turon puffs; we got the Banana Langka and Nutella.They used to serve savoury foods like silogs and and sandwiches, that we honestly miss a lot.Overall just a disappointing experience, emphasized by the fact that our previous visits showed so much promise and care.

They don't respect customer time. Emailed them like a week ago and still no response. I have to call and follow up just to got respond and let you know that they can't accommodate us. We are very upset and do not recommend this cake shop. It will waste your time like they did to us. Better check with other shop. It will save you from bad experience.

Amazing is the word for them !!! Love their cakes … absolutely delicious. Guys order them with any delays and doubts !!

We bought some of their ube cookies today and are very disappointed with them this time. They were very hard to chew or even break. They were either old or very stale. First time we had them they were so soft and chewy. Don't think we will buy them again

I was a fan of their halo halo but decided to get their Mango con yelo instead. I was very disappointed because instead of mangoes, they clearly put pears in it instead. I don’t know if they thought people won’t notice but if they were going to change something in the ingredients (especially since it is the main ingredient in the item) they should have let us know instead so we can choose something else. Very disappointed ?
