Come here with a friend. Got the plate with 3 meats (cratt, ribs, sausage) and got some grain bread and zets as sides. 2 Lagoons to drink with our meal. It was delicious! I went to Armadillo Willy all those years ago in Cupertino. So sad that the location closed, it was so comfortable delicious grill. This was my first time at the El Camino site, and it tasted just like I remember. Have a small dive cup Jalapeno, mild and original sauce
It 's okay. I grew up in Texas so I 'm a bit pickier about BBQ. I 've tried several other BBQ places in the south Bay and this one is probably one of your better options. I went for a small brisket plate. It 's a bit pricey, but all BBQ in the Bay is pricey, so it 's nothing unusual. The brisket came in a sort of shredded pile instead of slices, along with my side of onion rings and a cup of sauce, all on a kind of strange, too- fancy plate. The plate 's kinda large so it made the portion size feel ... kinda small. Yeah, I 'm being nit-picky, but it did feel pretty weird. Just serve it on paper in a red plastic basket, what is this black rectangular plate thing? That being said, the meat itself was actually decent, and the sauce was quite tasty. The onion rings were good as well. I think the biggest thing I wished this place had were fixin 's: self-service things like pico de gallo, onions, and pickles. There was none of that, and the small plate also didn 't come with anything else I didn 't already mention I felt like I was missing a piece of bread or something . The vibe of the place itself was more or less correct picnic tablecloths, etc and it was pretty spacious and clean. Overall I 'd probably give this place closer to 3 stars, but given it 's one of the few BBQ places in the Bay that hasn 't outright made me feel disappointed I think it 's good enough to merit 4.
Excellent BBQ place in the South Bay area. If delicious food coma is your desire, go to Armadillo Willy's and order anything on their menu. The portions and variety are old-fashioned good and the service is on the higher level than most places nowadays. Go there hungry!
This place was good for BBQ in Northern California but I wouldn?t go as far to say ?real Texas BBQ.? We went about a hour and a half before closing and no items were out which leads me to believe it is not made fresh daily as traditional Texas BBQ places do. They do not have freshly brewed sweet or unsweetened iced tea. The sauces were excellent. The mild and jalapeño were available tonight and a mixture of the two was a spicy tangy flavor. The potato salad was very good. Medium sized chunks with a mild mayo/mustard sauce with the crunch from pickles and celery. The tortilla soup was good, but kinda basic. It came out very hot which was nice. Didn?t eat it until we dived into the meats and it was still a good temperature. Served with a large slice of avocado on top. Maybe better if that was sliced thinner so it was easier cut into smaller chunks to mix in the soup. The cornbread was mediocre and the butter with it came out almost frozen and unspreadable. The Texas BBQ ribs were very good on their own with the rub and with a little sauce on them. They were very large bones too! Jalapeño cheddar sausage was excellent. True flavors of cheddar and spice of jalapeño! Brisket was okay+. We opted for the half/half fatty and not. It didn?t come out in slices as I anticipated. Just a pile similar to pulled port but you could tell it was brisket by the burnt/crunchy parts and darker meat. Service was sufficient. It was mildly busy. The women taking our order was more concerned with phone orders than customers there in person. Taking them right away while we waited in person. Our food came out pretty quick which was nice.
