Zum Becher - Stuttgart

It's our favourite place to eat in Stuttgart. Great atmosphere, great service, good prices, great wine. Nothing more to say.

Authentic German gasthaus featuring Schwabian fare. Menu includes English translation for the linguistically challenged. Sauerbraten and homemade spatzle were true to form, service with a nice side salad, and paired well with local red wine (Wurttemburg Lemberger - light, but dry and pleasantly tannic).

I only spent one night in Stuttgart at Le Meridien Hotel, and I wanted to go somewhere for dinner that felt 'authentic'. Zum Becher was exactly what I was looking for. The décor Is a bit dated but also very clean - most importantly, it was exactly right for the restaurant and created great ambiance. The food is traditional and the dish I ordered was outstanding. The menu is very reasonably priced. The staff was excellent. I don't speak any German, and I don't think my server spoke any English, but it wasn't a problem. Super friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home. I REALLY liked this place and would recommend it to anyone else. I'll certainly go back there the next time I am in Stuttgart.
