Federal Taphouse - State College

I truly wanted to love this place. The server was clearly overwhelmed, and we totally understood that. She was doing her best. We ordered our steaks rare, but when they came out, they were nearly well done and quite tough. I think on a future visit, I’ll just stick to appetizers or the pizza. The atmosphere and drinks were fantastic!

Fantastic venue! We stayed at the Hyatt, and this was an excellent spot for a family meal. There were plenty of drink options on tap for the adults, and my kids loved their meals. We ordered two appetizers to share, but I wouldn't recommend the hummus platter—it was quite bland. However, we did enjoy the fresh veggies that accompanied it. The crab fries were delicious! I would definitely return.

The restaurant has a lovely dining room with a great view. We were welcomed by a friendly staff from beginning to end. The condensed menu seemed promising, but the food fell short of expectations. The Parmesan Garlic Chicken wings were lacking sauce and flavor, which was disappointing, and the fries were the same. My friend's burger and tacos were also just okay. We even had to ask for salt, but it didn't make much of a difference. It seems like a nice spot to enjoy a craft beer and watch TV, but I wouldn't recommend it for the food. I won’t be coming back for that.

I think we all know that we can get pizza without the cheese that is hardly a vegan option. Once they remove all meat and milk, there is not much left. I had denied contributions to happy cow that had more vegan options. the vegan options on the menu are hummus, sincean tacos and home salad.

Eating is good and the staff is friendly, so this is not a critique of these two things. Despite the happy cow sticker placed on the front door, there are only two vegan options listed: an salat and a sweetburger without rolls and cheese. They are also at $10 $13.50 or so it is not cheap. at least there should be a real vegan bungalow, as the salad pack is not really a substitute.
