La Mesa Modern Mexican - St. Charles

Saturday dinner was a real leisurely treat! Pubela is a super hip restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. IF you’re looking for great Mexican food in St.Charles downtown that separates themselves from the pack, you won’t be disappointed with Puebla. The menu is amazing has both shareable individual plates. The restaurant is good for family or a date night. The drink selection is good custom. We had the Elote guacamole (skip this Elote). But do get roasted jalapeño salsa and Habanero salsa both were amazing. For the main course, we had El Hefe Chicken Tinga. Must get Coles de Bruselas, roasted brussel sprouts with chorizo bacon cilantro. The facility isspacious and clean, as were the restroom. Maurice our server, was very cordial informative. Our meals were promptly served with ample portions, hot and well prepared. Will definitely go back. Amazing Food!!!!! They make all of our items spicy, so if you like spicy food, you can ask them to make it like this and it also very tasty.

Awesome guacamole and house made chips. Very friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere.

It was very busy so that maybe the reason for the very poor service. After our food was delivered we didn't see the waiter until it was time for the check. Service was very slow (but they have to do better) and it was obvious our waiter was quite overwhelmed. Food was ok but nothing special. The peppers with the fajita dish were soggy and the shrimp was overly chewy. The Mexican salad was good and had really good flavor.

Incredible steak tacos! They are a bit on the expensive side, but they’re perfect for a date since the food will definitely impress. The tortilla chips were outstanding, and instead of salsa, they serve beans, which is a nice twist. We shared the taco meal along with guacamole and chips for dinner. I also really love the decor!
