The At Sopwell House - St. Albans

Very disappointed by restaurant, no real atmosphere and eat really terrible. does not fit vegetarians. not sure what they want to achieve here needs a complete review.

The restaurant was not busy when we arrived on a Saturday evening. The room reminded me of a seaside hotelk with large windows. The tables were occupied by couples who I assume were there for an overnight stay. The food was innovative and very good. I had pork belly to start which was a very small portion, however very tasty, for main course I had the beef which was cooked to perfection. To end the meal I had salted caramel tart which was very nice. In conclusion the food was very good and worth a visit with a spa day at the Sopwell House club spa before dinner.

It was my husbands ‘special ‘ birthday and we had a lovely lunch with good friends, food and service.

Excellent tasting menu, adapted to be vegan for us.

Terrible dining experience. Billed as Fine Dining it is more like Zizzi’s. Food was rushed, ridiculously rushed. We had starters 5 mins after ordering, then cleared and mains 10 mins later. No service at all. No wine pouring, no table clearing. Terrible. Staff also did not listen could not understand. Asked for a drinks menu for the bill. Worst dining experience in St Albans in years. Food was mediocre, wine list is rubbish.
