Il Frantoio - SPECCHIA

We found Il Frantoio by accident as we wandered round the charming town of Specchia. It was Sunday afternoon and we were not expecting to find anything open, but this restaurant is open for lunch only on Sundays, so we were lucky. Evening meals are usually served in a pretty garden, but Sunday lunch is served indoors in a cool and beautifully converted olive mill. My husband had a plate of frittura mista which had the lightest of batter and the freshest of fish and shellfish. But the highlight for me was the ravioli cacia e pepe with cherry tomatoes and red prawns. I have often eaten cacia e pepe with spaghetti or linguini in Rome, but here it was a delicious melting filling in the thinnest of ravioli. Next time we are in Puglia, we'll be back for dinner.

Really nice and unexpected discovery in Specchia. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace in a charming garden, welcome drinks were on the house and the service super friendly and multilingual (German, English, Italian . A very suggestive location, suitable for lovers of rustic places. typical cuisine with excellent starters with the best ingredients in the area and traditional combinations. a nice way to know in particular the Apulian and Salento cuisine. domestic dishes, inviting desserts. with coffee, wine of the house, water and euro covered in two. very kind staff. recommended recommended

We ate in this beautiful and ancient crusher, characteristic of the Salento area, served by a friendly and friendly staff. the amount of courses has been abundant and of excellent quality. recommended!
