Jr's Place On Wheat's Curve - Sparta

I loved jr's for the atmosphere before it was redecorated. Just like at rock island restaurant with all the cool old things on the walls, even a cute picture of the owners dog that he loved to tell you about. Going to jr's spaghetti night, all you can eat home made by the owner spaghetti and rolls for 8 bucks? Couldn't beat it! I went every Wednesday until it quit, sadly soon after I found out. I went back a couple times after but spaghetti night was my favorite. But after the redecorating I haven't been back. I stopped going to Cripple Creek because the cigarette smell was so bad, and I'm going to have to stop going to jrs for the same thing. I wish they would get a fan to pull out the smoke!

JR is a great guy and when he ran it, it was such a hidden gem. The new owner came in a cleared the place of all the cool artifacts and decorations. Now it looks really plain and uncomfortable. Booths were replaced with high uncomfortable chairs. If they were looking to attract more business by investing, they should have invested on fans that suck all the smoke out. Not sure why thousands were invested to make it look pretty ... but it 's going in the wrong direction. It doesn 't look pretty. Looks like cheap clocks and decorations from Walmart. Bring back the old Jr 's. It used to be so cozy and warm. It felt like Christmas is the only way I can describe it. Idk who advised more people would come if you did a bad paint job and threw a few girly decorations on the wall. The only complaint I used to have was the smoke. There was no ventilation. For the same amount of money spent on the remodel, could have gotten a couple high end smoke fans. I promise the old looks weren 't the issue. Hopefully new owner still has the old booths and actually expensive decorations that gave some much character and makes the right choice. Maybe I 'm wrong, but that 's my opinion and I feel like there are plenty of people that don 't smoke that wouldn 't want to be there bc of how strong the smell is. I 'd be surprised if any one said hmm I 'd come back if there was a girly clock on the wall .

Great place to go and have a beer. I prefer just a simple place like this where they serve just regular beer.

Nice little bar to stop for a beer and play darts or hang out

Randomly stopped in here tonight with a friend from out of town. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we had a great time. Everyone in the bar was really friendly, the drinks were good, bar tender was nice. Just overall great atmosphere. I would definitely stop back in here.If you are into dive bars with darts and fun people, this is for you.
