Lovely friendly back street boozer, two large rooms a lounge and public bar, with a big garden out back west facing. They have a fire in the winter in lounge bar making for a cosy setting on wintry nights and plenty of seating front and back for groups to easily socialise, they have pool and big screen sports in front. Ornate frontage worth checking out, but if you want a decent pint of ale, they quickly get inside for Sharps Sea Fury £3.60) one of the best ales in Portsmouth and well kept too, it's strong dark and goes down well. Families and dogs welcome. Needs more customers so worth checking out to keep this one going. Other guest ales are on offer and mild which is rare, usual fayre of lager and wines etc reasonable price so for an ale and large wine £8.10. Not just cash they take cards too which is handy ! Welcoming Landlord and his family. UPDATE Nov 2022, back open after six month of closure, new Landlady, welcoming friendly and keen to get pub going again. Clean and tidy and nice to see it open again. No real ale, John Smith's £3.80 ouch...plus a double gin and single over £14. Music very loud but was turned down but will need to get a better pint to get my custom sorry to say, previously Sea Fury was amazing.
