For me, the best things about Chinese Taste are the dishes beyond the Chinese-American staples. The pot stickers are deep fried and that's not special for example though they taste fine. But the buns are not so common. I find Chinese buns in general a bit bready but the pork one has good flavor and the custard bun is good. You have some different soup choices than you usually see too including some whole meal noodle soups. The vinegar lotus root was good and different. The bamboo veggie dish too is worthwhile. Cumin beef or lamb will surprise you that it is Chinese. The various dry pot dishes are also winners.Nothing special about the atmosphere. Service is quick but not personal.i prefer quick over personal anyway. Parking is fine though I can see it getting too busy at times.
I wanted this to be my new favorite Chinese spot. I had a super pleasant phone ordering experience and the prices are very reasonable. We had two dinner combos and an order of veggie fried rice to go. Total came to $44 including tip. The owner is a very sweet man and my food was swiftly served. Unfortunately, the chicken in the curry chicken had a mushy texture like the potatoes that were also in the dish. The sauce and the other veggies were fine but I kept spitting out each chicken piece. The Kung Pao beef was much better but lacked peanuts! There were maybe 10 in the whole dish. The last item we had was veggie fried rice. The order taker swore that it would be filled with a variety of veggies and no canned peas and carrots. We were sorely disappointed that not only were there only a few sprigs of broccoli, two pieces of bok choy and a couple of chunks of zucchini, but the rice was overdone and crunchy. Alas, my search continues.P.s. If you are a vegetarian, I bet you will love it here!
It’s okay, will come another time. However, the fish in the BBQ Fish Pot is too dry and not tender. A little disappointed.
More like 3.5 stars. I was grocery shopping in the Chinatown Supermarket next door. It was dinner time so I went here to try out some of their homemade dumplings. It was the very beginning of dinner service so I had the place to myself. The interior was quite spaces.I ordered pork cabbage dumplings, pork chives dumplings, seafood siu mai, Shanghai dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and wonton in chili oils. Out of everything, I think the pork chives dumplings and the Shanghai dumplings are the best of the bunch with the most flavors. I wish they had some ginger with their dipping sauce for the Shanghai dumplings.I truly wish they have a special house dipping sauce for the dumplings to give them some oomph. The pork cabbage was pretty bland. The seafood siu mai was okay, on the small side. The shrimp dumpling was also okay. The wonton in chili oil...the chili oil lacks chili and the wonton was again okay with less meat that I would like.Service was quick so no complaints there. Not sure what it would be like during the dinner rush. The price was REALLY good for the amount of food that I had.The menu looks pretty big so I may go back and try some other dishes.
