The Sangria Bar - South Brisbane

The drinks were slow coming to the table once the order was placed, considering there seemed to be enough staff and not fully booked. The meals were very slow as well. A variety of tapas plates were ordered, as well as 2 meals and a paella. Unfortunately the meals were last to come out, one did not arrive at all because the waitress was too busy talking and inputted the incorrect order into the system, and the paella was undercooked and we had to wait until all the tapas were finished at the table to receive it (a half hour once the rest of the food was finished). Don't waste your money!

Visited to see what the seafood paella was like. To be honest really not much seafood in it for 2 cats and it came out pretty burned. The bottom was black and stuck to the pan and no that’s not a Soccarat. If it was a nice caramelized Soccarat you were going for, it was cooked too long. The ‘sangria’ had absolutely no booze in it and for $35, come on, stick in a bottle of wine ya stingy gits!

Our local Spanish restaurant- We came here with our 2 friends from the UK recently- we waited 30min for 2 cocktails and when they finally came out it was just Soda water with no alcohol- Every time we needed service we had to flag down the waitresses rushing by as no one came to serve us . All though the service and cocktails were less than satisfactory the food was great.

I’m travelling solo on business and wanted a very quick dinner. The menu looked appetising so walked on in. The hostess guided me through the restaurant without asking my preference to an indoor or outdoor seat despite the weather being noticeably cool. She tried to seat me at a table at the outermost corner of the restaurant behind a pillar. When I asked to sit inside as the weather was cool she replied that there weren’t any indoor tables small enough for one person... note that there was no queue for tables. She eventually sat me at the bar which transpired to not be prepped to serve food! It took three separate servers to be able to answer any menu related questions. They ran up my bill immediately.... not leaving the option to order further food or drink... which struck me as a poor business decision and deterred me from ordering further drinks or dessert. Ultimately the whole experience was lacklustre. Highly unfortunate as the Tuna Ceviche and Boquerones were both excellent. Do not recommend for anyone who needs to eat alone!

Their lunch special of four tapas and a complementary house drink was amazing value. We particularly loved the octopus and the calamari. The ceviche had too much onion which overpowered the dedicate taste of the tuna we picked it out and then it was fine. Hip ambience and the service was attentive and prompt. Thank you.
