Wandering Dog Wine - SOLVANG

Wandering Dog turned out to be such a gem of a venue! Our server was knowledgeable, engaging, and very friendly. Thanks to her we truly enjoyed both talking about and learning more about the wines of this wonderful area : Visiting this amazing bar is something I highly recommend; it's truly a must stop whenever you're anywhere in the vicinity of Solvang!

During a recent trip to Solvang, my husband and I had a delightful experience at Wandering Dog. We were served by a lovely, intelligent young woman. The restaurant not only welcomes dogs but is also a family-run business, with their wines named after their beloved canine companions. Unfortunately, one of their cherished dogs recently passed away. I noticed a few reviews mentioning unfriendliness, and I wonder if the unhappy gentleman we encountered might have been grieving this loss—after all, we’re only human. We purchased some of their wines and are truly enjoying them! We're also gifting bottles of Wandering Dog to our dog-loving friends.

My family and I went here last night for wine tasting. We were disappointed that the bartender didn't even explain anything to us. We ended up laughing as we shared made up facts about the wines just so we could pretend to have a real wine tasting experience. I guess we could've asked but when we tried to make conversation with the attendant, he didn't bother with even a hint of a smile or any effort to engage. We just weren't in the mood anymore. We were just eager to get out of there so we can head to our next stop. Also this is the first time we experienced wine tasting where 5 different wines were poured in the same glass!

This was quite possibly the most uncomfortable experience. My boyfriend and I decided to visit this place because they allowed dogs, and we had our little pup with us. The man who was working there didn’t seem very happy to be there. We opted for the wine tasting, which lets you sample five different wines. Naturally, we had some questions. My boyfriend asked how to determine which wines are good. The man's response was simply, “You try them and pick the one you like.” Okay, fair enough, but we were looking for more guidance since we’re not experienced wine drinkers. We were curious if Italian wines were superior or any other recommendations—anything at all would have been helpful. As he poured the wines, he didn’t provide any information about what the wines were made from. In the end, we bought a bottle but left feeling like we were an inconvenience.

What a charming spot! It's definitely very dog-friendly. Our pup had a wonderful time sitting with us inside and greeting everyone who came in. It's a bit disappointing that they closed early, though.
