The gentleman who took our order seemed quite intoxicated but was quick about it. The women cooking were efficient, friendly, and handed over our order promptly. I often noticed the long line when I drove by on my way to work, which is a good sign of the restaurant's popularity. It’s definitely a great spot to stop for a meal. Although it’s just a short drive, there are several picnic tables nearby if you prefer to park and eat outside. Just a heads up: there are no public restrooms in the vicinity.
Like many others have mentioned, the wait can be quite lengthy. The food is delicious, but if I encounter a long line that stretches out to the street, I tend to choose another place. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they've recently started making gluten-free rolls. There's also a nice grassy area nearby with a few benches where you can enjoy your meal if you prefer not to eat in your car. On some weekends, there’s a mobile daycare in the area that sells plants and trees.
The burger was good, though not exceptional—worth the price of $6.99, in my opinion. The onion rings were of the smooth-skinned type, which isn't my favorite, but it's a personal preference. The portion was a bit small for the $4 price, but the flavor, enhanced by the tartaric acid, was good and everything was served hot and fresh. Overall, I’d rate it 4 out of 5 and would consider visiting again if the mood strikes.
After I drove over 100 times, I decided to try. Service was friendly and food came fast. Shakes are good and thick. Burgers are tasty and not much blows, but they are not confusing what is going on. Fries are worth going on and getting only the onion rings. Hotdog is decent enough and satisfy the young picky eater.
I absolutely loved the food at King Charlie's. It's a shame it's no longer open. I had been going there for years and always enjoyed their amazing hamburgers, fries, shakes, and the onion rings were simply irresistible.
