Bistro Portones - Smithfield

My burger gourmet husband and I went with a coupon to sample the burgers at Portones. We were warmly welcomed and given a complimentary tapas, which was flavourful and delicious. The owner, Filomena was attentive and generous, in fact, all the staff were lovely and the bistro had a family feel. The burgers were so huge that I needed a knife and fork to tackle mine and the chips were fresh and crispy! Fresh and organic....everything homemade! What a delightful surprise Portones was! We are going back after Mothers Day with our mothers as we are sure they will enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness as well as the delicious food!

Bought a Groupon deal. Burger and chips exceeded expectations in that it was very fresh tasty/juicy burger patty and quiet significant. See pic after it has sat there for an hour. Friendly service but a little slow. Even picky kids loved it. Also try the empanadas- the baked ones were still crunchy after microwave. Just really well done. Peak in the kitchen and it was really clean. Very impressed, a bit out of the way if you don't live in the area but a great place to dine in casually.

We had our first dinner in Nice at Mama's Delicious Greek food - bouillabaisse and chicken kebab.

My husband and two daughters found this gem just around the corner of our hotel, De Suede.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is now closed. It was a delightful establishment with exceptional service. The staff, especially the ladies, were truly wonderful. It is disappointing that they are no longer there.
