Cala Zaffiro - SIRACUSA

The business is abandoned... but the water is amazing and you can go in via the rocks. Bring your own food and drinks, i guess.

Cala Zaffiro is just 15 mins drive from Syracuse and sea around there is unspoiled. It’s crystal clear and beautiful. We went there during the week and had a very chilled and relaxing day. Staff were very friendly and polite.

In a 12 day trip to Sicily, my wife and I visited Cala Zaffiro three times. The swimming is fantastic in a beautiful sheltered cove with crystal clear water. OK, you have to scrabble over a few rocks, but they are smooth and it’s not a big deal, particularly if you wear swim shoes. Lifeguards are friendly and helpful, and of course vigilant. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, and were all very patient with our attempts to speak Italian. Cala Zaffiro is not a restaurant but they do some really nice light lunches. The beach bar area is very tasteful we are not big fans of astroturf in most places but it works well in this setting. Pricing is fair.

We stayed in this lido two days last week, on 13 and 15 August. we are back because the place is quiet and fine. the structure seems to be in via completion, but the part destined to the lido is well structured and welcoming. beautiful sunbeds, bigger than normal, and beautiful the sea, although at a certain time tends to get dirty. pleasant and comfortable lunch solution on the beach. Good spritz, good bruschettes. However the price is too high for what it offers... and the structure could do and give much more. negative note for restaurant service: bad restaurant, slow service, confused and incompetent that can not effectively manage a number of even minimal tables. bad price quality ratio: a nearly nonexistent caponata in a modest place can not cost 6 euros. paste with swordfish in the flavor equivalent to a tomato paste. siracuse paste without the taste of anchovies. quality of poor products. I served two really small white wine glasses. one of which is filled at a lower level than the minimum.

Fantastic beach location, but beach restaurant permanently closed. they can go here and enjoy caves and rocks, snorkel and swim, but for us the day was too hot and limited shadow there. parking space at 50 meters.
