Gelateria Kopa Kabana - SIENA

This place was highly touted on TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet so we sought it out on our stay in Siena. Could not have been a worse decision. The product was low quality and compares poorly with every other gelateria we have been to in Italy. Avoid.

One of the best gelatos i have Everest had. Fresh tasting, good selection of flavours, generous serving sizes and friendly staff. Probably one of the best value gelatos in Italy. Can't fault them on one thing

A woman who makes gelato was nervous when we asked what she would recommend to combine. It is not good customer service. Gelato was okay, we tasted much more splendid.

The Gelato was excellent, but it's easy to find that. The big win was when I asked about tiramisu, the server pointed to the refrigerator case that held tubs of it the size of a small sheetcake. It was 10 euros and that much tiramisu in single servings would have cost three times that. And this was among the best we had.

I tried many different gelaterias during my four months in Siena, and while I thought that Kopa Kabana was fine, it definitely wasn't my favorite. All of the gelato is homemade which is hard to find on the main streets (Banchi di Soppra, Via di Città , but I didn't think the flavors were as enjoyable as another place in Siena. Maybe I just came on a bad day, however, because I know that a lot of locals say this is the best gelato in Siena! Also to their credit, Kopa Kabana does have a very large selection of flavors--probably the largest of all the artigianale gelateria shops in Siena
