Both entrees were delicious and tasted fresh. We really enjoyed the chicken (very tender), roasted sweet potatoes, and chickpeas with feta. I thought the tofu could've had more flavor, but nonetheless tasted clean and healthy.
A great fast casual spot in the ballston area! I ordered the chicken thigh (which was really juicy, definitely would recommend) mandala style which was really flavorful and had a good kick to it. They have many other seasoning options as well but I would order the masala one again. It comes with rice and a side of kale automatically but you can upgrade to get a different side. For my last side option I got Mac and cheese which was good but I don't think I would order it again. They have a lot of seating inside and outside and is also a great option for takeout!
I wasn't too sure what kind of food to expect when I first checked out the restaurant but it left me feeling like I ate something on the healthier side. From the recommendations of my friends, I ordered the Avocado Basil Plate with chicken and sweet potatoes on the side. It was definitely so delicious and perfect to eat in their outdoor seating on a warm day. I also loved how they prepared the kale on the side as well. The only downside is that I am not a fan of pickled vegetables and I personally did not feel like it blended in well with the main portion of the dish (aka the avocado basil chicken portion). I thought the pickled vegetables would come on the side so that was definitely a mistake on my part. If you come here and you also don't like pickled vegetables, I would definitely recommend asking them to not include it.
You won 't find people complaining about the lack of healthy chipotle style of casual but high quality of fast food in the mean streets of Arlington...that 's for sure, but farmbird really does hit different. And that 's after being in the dmv area for about 6 years and seeing other similar institutions fail. The differentiators? First of all, forget dry boring chicken! I found their chicken breast to be incredibly tender I kind of wonder if they sous vide it. I ordered the avocado basil plate with half veggies and the kale greens and sweet potatoes and for $12, every element was perfect. The vegetables were flavorful, the sauce a perfect amount, and the sides really really delicious. It was a good amount of food too! My boyfriend also really enjoyed his sauce (the spicy Fresno sauce). For quality and price this is the perfect casual lunch for work, after a workout, or if you 're just too tired to cook and want a healthy substitute. I loved it!
I tried a couple new things, and my kids tried the kids meals, so I'm updating my review. I had the masala plate with masala chic peas and roasted sweet potatoes and thought it was very good (quite spicy, but I like that). The chicken breast was moist and very flavorful. My kids didn't like the kids meals at all they thought the pulled chicken was very dry and didn't like the BBQ sauce and also thought the macaroni and cheese tasted a little strange. I sampled their food and thought the food was OK, but I wouldn't order either again. Will probably go back on my own and try another sandwich or salad sometime.
