The Rising Sun - Sheffield

We visited the Rising Sun, Abbey Lane for a relaxing family meal. We booked a table for 12.45 and arrived promptly. Firstly, the draught, guest beer was sour. We ordered the meal at 1pm. The starters were late to arrive about 1.30 but were good. The main course arrived at 2.15 with no explanation or apology for the delay. Both mixed grills were tepid when they arrived and the chicken breast was over cooked and burnt (see photo). My chargrilled chicken breast was also over cooked and cremated. I would have been ashamed to present this meal. The waitress did not enquire at any time whether our meal was ok. I did complain when I went to pay the bill as both mixed grills had been wasted as they were cold before they were finished. I was given a refund of one meal and an apology at this. However, it would have been preferable to have enjoyed a timely, well cooked meal. It appeared that others were being served in preference to us. We will not return.

Tried 2 different beers and left them both, sure thing that when your beer goes flat before you are half way through that they either aren’t keeping the beer correctly or the glasses aren’t clean

Dog friendly, with welcoming , efficient staff. Excellent food with good atmosphere. Great selection of cask ales and lagers.

Lovely pub and good food, welcoming friendly and helpful staff. Perfect with the dog as treats and water supplied. Will be coming back

Great food and better service. Lovely bunch of people and great value too. Would give 6 stars if I could. Was a big fan of the spicy hot wings!
