Twenty months ago in my first week in shanghai I stumbled the pie society and it was an oasis, an oasis of something that is recognizable in a time of adaptation. I am so glad that it finally opens the second position, which is much more spacious and offers more vegan options. at my last visit I tried the new vegan torte the fennel countdown, it was delicious with the sweet kartoffelmaic, reduced mushy heap and wobble gravy. I also tried the vegan pumpkin cake and cocose cream that did not disappoint. when they are visiting and happy enough to run in jane, they say hi, they are a wonderful character with pink hair (currently), a beautiful smile and that speaks English with a light iondon accents. I returned with my entourage on Saturday morning, we had 4 of the vegan breakfast, which is plentiful, but they can still add extras like spinat, ash-browns etc. the general consensus was very good, the small quibbles were the sausage and the steamed vege, but all the other was great. the hash brown, baked beans, mushrooms, toast with cashew nut butter, vegan patty, tofu scramble, all so good for a non-vegan place, plus the beautiful note of HP sauce on the table. it is so great to have a place to go for a western breakfast and hang with friends. there is now a vegan chili with allnipork, I'm not about meat substitute, but this is a delicious chili. also the cakes change seasonal, so there are always new ones to try. new vegan cheese and bevel cake, a tofu-katsu curry, plus an egg upgrade they now use only plant protein eggs in their vegan breakfast. four of us went to try the vegan Sunday roast in great anticipation, were not disappointed. the brats were perfect, the nut roast was huge and tasty, the portions were generously vegan yorkshire puddings, wow! jane their amazing crew do fantastic vegan foods that no one else do here, I would give this place 5 stars if I could. this place makes dinge right, fresh ingredients and made in the house, they honestly do better vegan eat than some purely vegan places in shanghai. I tried the new 'let's jack ' vegan bbq pie, no fake meat, only jack fruit, mushroom aprikosen give him a great texture, the taste was on the sweeter side for me, which his bbq prefers smoker. I am sure it will be a popular cake in this summer, I love the puns the fact that they regularly create new vegan cakes so that we are never boring. updated by previous review on 2021-01-23
Despite the missing comments to this place in the app, I decided to give it a try and I was so surprised for the best! although it is not completely vegan / vegetarian, it has a fair selection of vegan / vegetarian options that are well noticed in the menu (it makes it much easier to choose, not go through the whole menu), and eating that I ordered (a few vegan cake really well). the best part of it is that it is the only place I found in the inner city (as far as) that serves vegan/vegetarian food in traditional English style and good quality western food, it is very refreshing after it in China for so long. some of the other vegan places I tried were also really good, but Asian style. I will be back in a definitiw, so glad that I found this place only 5 minutes to foot from my house. I would rate it 5 stars if it was possible (it is not possible because this place is not completely vegan/vegetarian).
Review by Pie Society, Shanghai I recently visited the Pie Society in Shanghai and ordered their Veggie breakfast. I must say I was very happy with the experience. The vegan sausage is delicious, had a great taste and texture. But I wasn't a big fan of Veggie Patty. the toast and roasted tomatoes were good and the hash brown was cooked for perfection. The coffee in the Pie Society is really good, it is not too bitter and has the right balance of taste. In addition, the place had a cozy atmosphere, making it perfect for breakfast. Finally, the portion size was quite large, and I could hardly finish the dish. For those seeking a healthy and filling breakfast, Pie Society is a good option.
