From the moment you walk in, you'll feel as if you've been transported to a different era of imperial China. I ordered one of their lunch specials, but I found the food to be a bit disappointing. Given that I'm from San Francisco, I realize it's not entirely fair to compare Chinese cuisine anywhere else, except perhaps in the Far East. However, I don't want to be too harsh, as it can be challenging to find good Asian food in Alaska or in many rural areas across America, so I genuinely appreciate their presence. Plus, the restaurant's authentic decor saves you the time and expense of a long flight on Pan Am or Cathay Pacific to Asia. Perhaps I'm showing my age with that reference! Hopefully, this review will encourage the owners to enhance their culinary offerings a bit more and provide diners with a truly exceptional experience of fresh, delicious Chinese food, which can be an extraordinary delight for the taste buds when prepared correctly.
The portions are generous and perfect for sharing. The egg rolls are hot and delicious. There was also a buffet option which, in hindsight, I should’ve checked out—imagine if there were unlimited crab rangoon! Our meals arrive promptly, and while the staff is attentive, they maintain a respectful distance without being intrusive. Overall, it's a solid restaurant in a city that feels slow and quiet.
Peking Chinese Restaurant was fantastic! After spending a full day exploring Seward and enjoying a Glacier Cruise Tour, the fresh, hot food at Peking Chinese was exactly what we needed. The service was quick, and our meals arrived shortly after we ordered. Our server was very attentive to our needs. We opted for a few dishes to share family-style, and everything was delicious—we finished every last bite. If you're in the mood for some great Asian cuisine, this is definitely the place to go!
Good, fresh food! Chung pao chicken, wonton soup and chicken chow mein were pretty flavorful- perfect meal post hiking in the cold and rain.
Pretty good Chinese for a small town in alaska, I walked thru a kinda dirty screen door to a smiling older woman, it was like eating at grandma's house. Good portion size and prices specially compared to most other places in town.
