The blueberry loaf was dry but the raisin butter tarts were AMAZING!I guess it depends on what you are looking for and your tastes but I'd go again.
Save your money. Their products are horrible. There's another bakery in Lakefield that is much better. I should have gone there but i thought I would try kawartha bakery based on reviews. Now I suspect the owner wrote the good reviews.
Certainly the place to go for all of your gluten free food. The pies are delicious, the waffles are yummy. We have tried almost all of it
My wife and I were on the way to visit with some friends at a cottage in the Kawartha Highlands for the weekend, and we though it would be nice to bring a pie with us for dessert that night. We thought that if we stopped at a country bakery we'd be sure to find homemade delights, so when we saw the Kawartha Bakery on the corner of the highway, we pulled right in. We bought oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and an apple/peach pie. Everything looked great, and the folks there were cheerful and friendly, but when we got in the car and each grabbed a cookie, we were immediately struck by how dry they were. My wife joked "I hope the pie is better" and I said maybe these cookies were just a day old. At the cottage, we joked with our friends about the dry cookies as we cut into the pie after supper. All four of us immediately began laughing. The pie was spectacularly flavourless! The apples were eerily white and as free of natural markings as they were absent of taste. The peaches had a vague flavour faintly reminiscent of canned peaches. The pastry was best described as doughy. Sadly, the remainder of the pie went into the compost, although it retained it's entertainment value for the rest of the weekend. The best suggestion I can give is to skip the Kawartha Bakery and go a few kilometres further north into Buckhorn, where we saw another bakery. I've never been to it, but I can't imagine it could be any worse!
This is more or less a soup, saald and sandwich shop, but everything is home made and they serve good quantity and quality. Their butter tarts are deadly
