I was a little skeptical about how the food was going to be. The menu does not sell the the food very well. BUT I tried the Burrifongo with beef....and it was fantastic!!! I was pleasantly surprised and recommend giving this place a try!!!
First, more than half of the menu was not available.Second, the food was not even as good as in regular panadería or road restaurant in PR. Chicken was hard and tostones not really smashed thin as usual. Rice was ok but seems that it was sitting under the buffet glass for hours. Steamed vegetables had literally zero seasoning and mushy overcooked. The food also took about 40 min although it was just 2 tables occupied.Service and atmosphere were very good, I like the decor and a lot of historical PR facts and places to visit.
The people were super friendly. The food was even better! Authentic Puerto Rican food presented well and so tasty. We added Mango Coladas which made the meal even better. They also make very interesting flavors of ice cream, such as corn. You can take food out or sit in and eat. It's casual, but very clean and comfortable. We loved the music, too. We felt like we were on a vacation far away. The restaurant is in a small building that's not anything special, but once you come in, you'll be happy you did.
Best empanadas!! Love the hot bar, always so flavorful and always different!
