Then we asked them to pack a bottle of wine for us to take away (legal in FL) and they did not react until we started to go with the bottle after we wait about 10 minutes. Great location, but they need to relax on their service!
Amazing dining experience. Right from the start this place was special. Food was wonderful. Homemade pasta sauces were cooked to perfection. Service was excellent. Very authentic. Excellent wine selection. Will be back.
So glad we came upon this amazing restaurant before seeing a show at the Van Wezel. The atmosphere is so lovely in a wine cellar. And the food was absolutely incredible. We had the seafood pasta and it was phenomenal. We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend!
Shared dinner with two close friends. 4 of us started with glasses of house wine, three of us had house Montepulciano and one house Pinot Grigio. Server went over the specials and we asked for bread four times . Upon delivering the bread we asked for butter but only 3 small servings were brought for 4 people. Although the restaurant was empty we felt rushed to order as the waiter came back every 2 minutes to see if we were ready. Starters were Caesar salads for two of us and the recommended Spinach salad for one of us who requested additional dressing on the side. The waiter came back and said there would be an upcharge for additional dressing which he declined. Main courses were ordered which included Veal Saltimbocca, Snapper Piccata, Bucatini Amatriciana and Lobster Ravioli. The Veal Saltimbocca was well prepared but the only choice for a pasta side was a thick cut penne which was disappointing, I would have preferred an angel hair or thin spaghetti with the Saltimbocca sauce. Overall though a nice dish. The Snapper Piccata was served with the tail on and was overwhelmed with capers which denied the snappers full taste. The Lobster Ravioli was by far the biggest fail with little or no lobster evident in the dish and just an aftertaste of lobster sauce present in the bite. Finally, the Bucatini Amatriciana special was well prepared and a credit to the pork cheeks defined in the description by the waiter. Summarily, dinner for 4 was $228.23. Overall experience for assumed fine dining was a 3 at best. The restaurant was unique and the ambiance was engaging but the rushed service was distracting. With so many choices available in beautiful downtown Sarasota, I would hope every chance to capture a diner would be cherished. Unfortunately it felt like we were not special tonight. Maybe next time?
I've been here before and I had a really amazing experience, this time was different. The ambiance is wonderful, the service is nice. The food wasn't as good as I remembered it. Not that flavorful, I didn't like the breadcrumbs in the muscles and the brisket ravioli was not very flavorful at all the other meal we got was a swordfish and it seemed to be drowning in red sauce and kalamata olives maybe less would have been more in this case. The server was young and I felt like he was too casual for the dining experience and what it called for because it seems like a very classy place. I would definitely give this place another try. They have indoor and outdoor dining and an upstairs seating area it's definitely charming a little bit cheesy decorations but when I went there in the past they had live music, it can be very romantic.
