Boll Weevil 53 - Santee

After devouring ten wings and an order of zucchini sticks, I was completely stuffed and very satisfied. Boll Weevil is known for their half-pound steerburgers, which many patrons order. On Wednesdays, they’re only $5.49. I used to get their burgers, but the bottom bun always ended up soggy, and I can't stand that, so I no longer order them. The beer selection is decent, featuring the usual favorites but also enough variety to try something new each visit. I've always had great service, especially from Tiffany—she’s fantastic! I try to sit in her section whenever possible. I noticed some reviews mentioned a less-than-stellar experience with Kelli, but maybe Tiffany was just having an off day then. I've been lucky to have attentive servers, even if it’s not always Tiffany. Parking can sometimes be tricky, but the 60 cent wings make it worth driving around the lot. The tables have always been clean when I've been there, and if any need to be cleared, they don’t stay dirty for long. Overall, it's a great spot for wings!

My side salad arrived first; it was simple but tasty. It featured standard ingredients, including croutons, and I enjoyed it with their mild vinaigrette, which was decent. The Steer burger was quite good, served on a warm, moist sesame bun. I topped it with fresh pickles and onions that came in little plastic containers. The meat was cooked to medium as I requested and had a nice flavor. The avocados were fresh and perfectly ripe. Overall, the burger was delicious, and considering the price of just $2.99, it’s definitely a great deal. The food itself rates a solid 3 stars for me, but the $2.99 price tag elevates it, so I’m giving it 4 stars!

The service was outstanding! Our waitress was genuinely friendly. As for the price, my father-in-law covered the meal, which was probably around $20. Not too bad! I doubt I'll crave this place, but if someone else wants to go, I'd definitely join them since the burgers are quite tasty. They also have an all-you-can-eat 1/3 lb burgers and fries deal for $9.99 with the purchase of a beverage on certain nights (I can’t recall which day, but I think it was Friday). Overall, it’s a decent spot!

Gluten free options at a boll weevil? Cool! My wife has special dietary considerations due to health and this boll weevil was able to accommodate them which is a big plus. She knows I live the boll weevil in IB, and loved it as a kid, so we drive out here to check it out. The gluten free fries were great, but she got her burger wrapped in lettuce, so we can't comment on the gf buns. I had a regular bacon burger and fries, and it was pretty good. The patty isn't quite as good as the patty they use at the IB location. Otherwise it was very similar. The service was adequate; I had noticed a lot of other reviews complained about the service. I wouldn't have commented on this, except it seemed that our waitress was the only one working, but she seemed to do a pretty good job of being the only one there working. They had a lot of beer, a pretty decent selection for east county. They had a mural outside of their bathroom with the logos of local brewery's, but I forgot to snap a photo. The location itself was decent, but looked like it could use a little tlc. Overall I think many of the reviews have been too harsh, it seems like a good little joint.

I went here last week to eat and really enjoyed my food. The last time I went to boll weevil was in lemon grove at the one with the old logo. And I was disappointed I remember going to boll weevil as a kid and it was good, but my last experience let me down. I decided to try out the one in santee with the different logo. I was impressed by their selection of beers and liked the little patio area they had. I ordered the grilled cheese burger, it looked amazing and tasted even better. I love grilled cheese, so why not eat it in a burger from. I will define they be back to try another burger.... On a side note if you feel like gambling with the claw machine, the claw is an jerk
