Martinez - San Sebastian

We sat at the bar and initially had a glass of red with one pinxos each. The anchovies were so delicious we stayed. We then had a few of the hot dishes including scallops and octopus and obviously more wine. The whole evening was really enjoyable with the staff friendly too. The food was excellent.

Another in the long line of Pintxos bars we visited while in San Sebastián. There were Some great bites here-particularly liked the Gambia's shrimp in a tempura batter) and langoustines -delicious. English here was ok and bar staff very helpful. On a Sunday it was a great, less busy experience than what we experienced on Saturday at similar spots. Really good and very reasonable.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here whilst travelling through Spain. The tomato salad, mushrooms and mushroom croquettes were simple but phenomenal. The house red was sensational, can’t wait to come back again.

El Martínez es un clásico de la 31 de agosto, con una carta variada que ofrece raciones y pintxos elaborados, tanto fríos como calientes; éstos últimos los preparan en el momento. Personal amable y atento. Servicio de mesa y barra, el local no es excesivamente amplio y puede costar encontrar sitio libre en horas punta y fines de semana. Recomendable.
