Every dish was a hit starting from the carpaccios. Both the A5 wagyu carpaccio and seared salmon carpaccio was packed with flavor and just melted in my mouth. I could literally have infinite dishes of these. The hamachi kama was crisp on the outside and hot on the inside! Omg, also to end the night with their creamy panna cotta was just simply simply perfect! Chef's kiss*
I had been eagerly anticipating a visit to Sushi Maruyama for quite some time, and finally, on a Thursday evening, I had the chance to indulge in a long-awaited dinner. Fortunately, the wait for a table was relatively short, about 15-20 minutes, which was quite reasonable. We kicked off our meal with a selection of appetizers. The black cod marinated in saikyo style miso was an absolute highlight, delivering an explosion of flavors that left a lasting impression. The Japanese-style fried chicken karaage was decent, offering a satisfying crunch and flavorful interior. The grilled yellowtail collar hamachi kama was another pleasant surprise, with its delicious taste. But the true star of the show was the nigiri selection. We ordered a variety, including chutoro, otoro, unagi, anago and many more. Each piece of sushi was a masterpiece in itself, featuring incredibly fresh fish with an array of delicate textures and wonderfully harmonious flavors. The service at Sushi Maruyama was on point. The staff was attentive. The restaurant itself had a decent size and boasted a pleasant ambiance, which added to the overall dining experience. While the food at Sushi Maruyama was undoubtedly top-notch, it is essential to note that such quality comes at a price, as is often the case for exceptional sushi in the Bay Area.
Love love love this place. the restaurant was a small but enough for enough privacy and comfort. the food was so good i loved that every bite of everything had its own flavor where you can tell the chef puts his own touch to each bite. if i can give this place more than 5 stars it'd be 10000/10. their menu is outstanding! i wish i could've ordered everything i really appreciate quality dishes as much as i appreciate great service. the host was more than accommodating to us being late for our reservation. i wish i would've gotten her name to thank her but hopefully she sees this, i appreciate the staffs great service, always checking on us and keeping our water and teas full. we were almost leaving after we got our bill until she told us to sit back down for a birthday dessert where she also sang to me so sweet!! she brought out a slice of cake with candle that's made in house and i DEVOURED IT. it was soooooo good. i will be recommending this place to everyone i know because they absolutely deserve all the praise! thank you for a wonderful time
Easily best Japanese hot dishes and sushi I've had in America so far. On par with Japan. All three servers were incredible. We ordered so much and managed to finished everything. Bluefin tuna carpaccio amazing. Must get the omakase. scallop tempura with truffle inside so good! Must get the egg steam seafood pot. Black cod was incredible must get! Ottoro tasting pretty good. Ended with 300+ for tip and tax so fairly priced, given it's the best.
Absolutely lovely. Fantastic premium omakase hot appetizers, great sake (solid selection of high end and reasonable bottles in a variety of sizes), and stellar service. Been to very high end sushi restaurants in Kyoto, London, New York, and the Bay Area, and this one holds its own. :)Food: 5/5
