I've been in Sayulita for five months and regret not finding El Metro earlier. Your salads are fresh, the Tortas are great if you are something next to Tortillas and the Enchiladas are filled and delicous. The veggie ciabatta is quite unusual for a vegetarian sandwich and is absolutely wonderful. They are set back from the sidewalk and can be hard to find when you pass.
Don't go anywhere else for a Torta! At the subway they are always fresh and filled. The chicken mitanesa is excellent. Also great drinks! Can't beat the quality for the price. Always a pleasure to go here! You have to eat here when you travel to Sayulita!
First of all, a chilaquiles sandwich? Pure genius. Now I can eat chilaquiles twice per day! Second, this is how freshly made these tortas are: for my chilaquiles torta, they started by heating oil and then cooking the corn tortillas to make the chips for...the chilaquiles! Once the chips were made, the green sauce was put on, and egg was fried, and then assembled on the roll with some avocado. So tasty! 45 pesos for a meal. (Vegan note: the egg was optional, and when I mentioned vegetarian, he asked if egg was okay; it may have had some mayo, I'm not sure. My wife's panela cheese torta was much simpler: panela, lettuce, tomato, and salsa. 35 pesos for a meal. Other vegetarian options were the egg torta, and a vegetarian chapala, which I understood was a veggie sandwich on ciabatta. There are a couple tables out front and some counter seating. Otherwise, the sandwiches are thoughtfully package para llevar.
The cakes in the El Metro are the bomb. Fresh and delicious. Very fill doa great option for hungry teenagers. Unique fillings and combinations, but you cannot go wrong with the Cubano.
