フィードバックを提供するI waited in line for 2 hours and was able to grab a spot at the bar for their second seating. The people behind us also waited 2 hours but ended up not coming in - tough luck. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very quiet, with everyone silently watching the chef at work. The sashimi and nigiri were incredibly fresh with generous portions. It was a unique and original experience. I recommend it to those who are patient.
Tekka is a cozy sushi restaurant operated by a seasoned Japanese couple. It is a hidden gem in the inner Richmond neighborhood that many prefer to keep under the radar to avoid overcrowding. With only 11 seats, dining at this hole-in-the-wall is a unique experience due to its strict rules. To secure a spot, insiders suggest arriving after 5:30 p.m. to be first in line when the doors open at 7 p.m. Those who miss out can try their luck on the 9 p.m. waiting list. Other important rules include cash-only payments, no cell phones, and patience when waiting for the elderly couple to serve you. As a sushi enthusiast, I had been curious about tekka for years but was hesitant due to its regulations. Luckily, I recently dined there with my friend Sandy, a fellow sushi lover and food blogger.
Important to note: cash only, limited seating (up to 8 people), first come first served. It was a very intimate experience. It felt like I had a small taste of Japan. The restaurant is run by a man and a woman who have been doing this for a while. My friend and I ordered the Sashimi dinner. I have to say, it was different from all the other sushi I have tried. It was very delicious and fresh.
We had luck and waited no minute in the line. the restaurant format is similar to restaurants I visited in japan. sushi are very good, the size of the rolls is impressive.
Chef Wilson and Alex were very welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was so fresh and simply melts in your mouth! This is now our favorite place to enjoy sushi! Food: 5/5
