I live just down the street. It 's a good, clean place to sit down, relax...and possibly get knifed. I enjoy a beer an Angel game w/my pops every now then but...the neighborhood has been completely overtaken by poor, drug addicts prostitutes So If you 're white, sensitive not to use to poor (or black) folks, this bar is NOT for you. BTW- The meatloaf is 4
Stopped in here with a buddy for one beer and when we stepped in, we liked the new look and updates the new owner put in to this place. We hopped up to the bar and took a seat where we were greeted by the bartender and Jerome, who took over ownership of this historic bar. We both ordered beers and a I gotta say, this place has some awesome happy hour specials!! After my first (yes, assuming I 'm about to order my 2nd beer), I went up to the jukebox and chose a few songs with a steady influx of clientele coming in for an afternoon cocktail. Everyone seemed to know each other and the vibe was pleasant. Now on our third beer, the munchies started to kick in when I chose the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and SOTB Bay Shrimp Cocktail from the menu along with my buddy ordering the Rib Eye Sliders . As our orders were brought to the bar, I couldn 't wait to dig in! The Shrimp Coctail was downed asap as I then realized, I hadn 't taken a pic of my order and snapped a pic of my chicken sandwich waiting for me to devour it. From the first bite to the last, everything was as tasty as one would expect and then some. Before we left, Jerome went on to explain how he loves to cook and create delectable dishes either at home when he has company over, or at work, where he now expresses his passion to make his patrons feel welcome to come back for another great experience.
Rolled in from out of town, greeted by the pleasantly welcoming owner, Jerome, who smartly answered our inquiry about what was quintessential on his menu. Service quick and accurate. The recommended menu items did not disappoint and were very reasonably priced. One star shy of 5 simply because the restaurant is an afterthought to the bar, which seems unfortunate, as good as the fare... Overall, a decent establishment to grab a bite!
I really like this place. Lived in the area for many years and had never been until a friend took me one night. Everyone was friendly, drinks are good and reasonably priced. We usually end up playing shuffleboard and chatting with the regulars. Great little spot. I will be back for sure!
