Another mandatory stop!. Boliche Bessonart, wonderful old bar restaurant with great atmosphere, decent food and great drinks, especially the Fernet!.
We visited San Antonio de Areco for two days in December and we stumbled more or less in this wonderful place. Even if we don't speak a word of Spanish, the staff did everything they could help us, and we had great empanadas, cold cuts and drinks. We came back the next afternoon and sat on wobbly high chairs right in front of the building in the warm sun only people observe and it was one of the best moments during our stay in San Antonio. This is a place for families and Gauchos, locals and wilder tourists. Please pay attention to the old pictures on the walls inside as they tell you a lot about the story about the place. Be polite for all, make way for grandparents who treat their big children to a soda and a snack, give a big smile to a lace gaucho and you will have a fantastic experience.
This place seems to come from a film of about 50 years ago... its outer appearance, its tables, chairs, posters, shelves, bottles... even the wooden freezer must have passed generations of cartridges. Do not forget to visit the toilet, at least the Gents you could do with some cleaning!!! (traditional, but dirty). The food is decent, we had the picture (big enough for two if you are not very hungry) and I tried their special Fernet Cola, which they prepare in a strange way.
In the weekend all the young people and the young of hart come here. The genuine bar for the locals. You feel as if you are on film set. Very nice people,
