Zimbu - Salt Lake City

We arrived quite late in the day, and some of the food, specifically the momos, was a bit cold. However, overall, the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the roasted chicken and chicken tikka. The samosas were warm and quite tasty. The momos and veggie rolls were also above average. Our server was gracious and kind, which added to our experience. We will definitely return!

This exceeded my expectations significantly! The rice, chicken tikka masala with tikka sauce, and samosas were all outstanding! I also really liked the momo sauce, although it was a bit spicier than I'm used to. I savored small bites of delicious food while drinking plenty of ice water! I'm currently trying to rebuild my spice tolerance, but it was just right for my husband. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and it was definitely worth the price.

I usually order the Tikka Chicken with Tikka Masala and the Roasted Chicken with Coconut Curry. Between the two, the Tikka Masala has been slightly more reliable. Generally, it’s a light tomato paste-based curry, and I appreciate that Zimbu hasn’t overdone the tomato paste like some other recipes do. Today, the Tikka Masala actually tasted quite good, but oddly, the chicken was served in thick slices and was a bit underheated. Very strange indeed. The Roasted Chicken this time was an improvement compared to past visits; while still a bit thickly cut, it wasn’t overcooked to the extent I've seen before. The coconut curry, however, was just mediocre based on Zimbu’s history. It tasted more like a sour cream sauce than coconut curry, but thankfully it wasn’t as horrible as past servings. Honestly, giving this place three stars feels generous considering some previous experiences, but I hold out hope for better visits in the future. Hope is rarely something I bring to my reviews, but today was… acceptable. I know I’ll return because I love curry, so how could I give them less than three stars?

Wonderful Indian food. I tried all three chicken entrees and they were so yummy. The spicy chicken I just did a small sample and I wish I would have got more. I got my Indian spices euphoria. I missed that from the Indian ladies bringing home made food to work. I wish we had this place at the Oregon coast.

I was excited for food court Indian food, but this was a major letdown. The portion of noodles I got was laughably small, and cold. The chicken was dry and lukewarm, and again the portion was small with only 3-4 chunks in each serving. The curry flavor was the saving grace as it was pretty solid, but not enough to feel good about dropping 11 bucks on a disappointing meal. Might be better if you go during a more peak time?
