Chips and salsa came in disposable plastic and paper containers, which seemed odd. The service was annoyingly slow, especially given that we were the only other customers in the restaurant. Waiting at least 15 minutes between server interactions was not appreciated. Additionally, the prices were rather elevated for the casual atmosphere of the restaurant. I paid $20 for my dish, which is most definitely an elevated price. I have had better camarones a la diabla in California for a cheaper price. Otherwise, Meño's was a nice experience but I would not go again.
I've been dining here for about four years, and I still discover new dishes to love! Their camarones empapelados are amazing—it's my current favorite—and there's always enough to take home. You definitely need to try their mojarra frita; it's a hearty fried fish served with rice, beans, and homemade tortillas. I also recommend the chimichanga, topped with sour cream and queso fresco. Last but not least, the staff here are always so friendly!
The best Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake City for the past two decades.
Outstanding food and service—definitely worthy of 6 stars!
We were served very stale chips with a small bowl of salsa that wasn't impressive either. I ordered a michelada, but they didn’t have any domestic beer available. An inexperienced waitress accidentally spilled soda on my friend's lap, prompting us to decide to leave. However, the staff became quite hostile. They insisted that we pay for the chips and salsa and then argued that we had to order food since we had ordered a beer. Isn’t chips and salsa considered food? If we're paying for it, I believe it qualifies. As we were leaving, the staff was very rude. Overall, we were extremely disappointed.
