Le De La Gare - Saint-Romain-de-Popey

I've had the opportunity to go twice to this lovely restaurant during a four day visit of the area. One of the evening was New Year's Eve, and on both occasions, I was amazed by the quality of its fine food and its presentation worthy of the very best restaurants, this headed by the chef owner Mme Valérie Cristina. The service was well paced and attentive. Mme Cristina came at the end of each meal to see each table and afforded much time to each and everyone, you can really see how much passion she has for what she does. Although the restaurant is located a bit on the beaten track, it is only few minutes drive from junction 35 of the Autoroute 89. On my next visit to Lyon, I will make the detour again and enjoy some great food at a great price for what is on offer. I cannot recommend it enough!

Highly tasteful cooking for more than reasonable price, in the beautiful landscape area of south Beaujolais (hills and vineyards). Many characteristic yellow stone BandB around... Few minutes from A89 highway escape ... Only minor negative aspect is nearness of road and railway (but not really busy)
