A few minutes later our waiter went over to the table behind us and asked if they wanted cobbler... The woman at the table asked what kind and when he said peach she said no thank you. So we perked up! Our cobbler hopes were alive again! He never came back to the table. We ordered 3 waters and a lemonade (no sodas available) he brought out 4 Arnold Palmers... I tried mine and it was delicious so I kept it not knowing it was $4. I know I already mentioned cobbler but they were alos out of shark and Mac and cheese. Not a big deal except when you're menu is already small. I had small chicken gumbo but 30percent of it was bones. I tried to muscle through it but gave up. Our experience was more of a 1 star but maybe it was just a bad day so I'll give it 2.
This was a huge waste of money! We went at 12:30. The fact that there was one car in the parking lot should have told us something! We were not greeted, it's self seating. Our waitress did not smile or talk to us unless we asked a question. We felt very unwelcome and I have no idea why we stayed. The food was just as bad as the service. My daughter and granddaughter got gumbo. They said it had an odd taste and asked them to take it off the bill. The manager tried giving all kinds of excuses for the odd taste. We live in SC, so we know what good seafood tastes like. My grandson got fried shrimp. It was pathetic. Little tiny baby shrimp and way over cooked. He was hungry so he just went for it. I got barbeque ribs. They were mostly fat. The cornbread was awesome. After taking the two gumbo's off, which we argued about, the bill was still $50.00. I was just plain mad. I hate spending money on bad food. It never did get busy, and when we drove past at lunchtime on Sunday, still no cars!
We had a wonderful time chatting and taking photos of the ambiance. I also enjoyed my shrimp gumbo. Delicious!
A nice lunch in this sweet, slow moving little town. Sweet tea was wonderful. Shrimp lunch great.
One of the best food experiences I’ve had in a long time. Bubba (whose family owns the joint) was our server and he couldn’t have been more friendly, interesting and engaging. I loved learning about his family, Gullah food, fox hunting… plus I had my first-ever gumbo and let me tell you — shrimp? It kinda freaks me out. So I was nervous. But it was SO good that I got another 16 oz cup to go. Whenever I’m in the area again, I will take whoever is with me to this restaurant.
