Taqueria Don Julios - Ruskin

I got a small guacamole to try and queso. Especially loved their chunky with tomatoes and onion guac. Queso, white white cheese was really good, chips and salsa all good. Best taco I’ve found so far, rice and beans bland. Huge serving of 3 enchiladas. Took home.

They gave me some weird meat instead of “carne asada” which is steak. They gave me some pulled pork or something different ! When confronted and shown pictures of how asada looks they said they wouldn’t replace my food. When I said this isn’t steak they responded by saying they would give me chicken without tortillas …. Not sure what kinda service this is. I know what asada and trust me I didn’t get asada.

We took a wrong exit and ended up at this restaurant for lunch. There were several locals so we thought it would be a safe bet. We ordered a variety of traditional tacos, a chimichanga smothered in white queso, and a ceviche tostada. Although it wasn't what I intended to order, the chimichanga tasted great. I asked for beef and cheese and made the mistake of assuming it would be ground beef. What came out was half steak and half shredded chicken. I have no idea how chicken was part the equation. Either way, it was good and very filling, and I could only eat half. Of all the tacos we ordered, only the shrimp was enjoyable/edible. The pork ones had a sour/gamey taste so I think the meat was starting to turn. The steak ones were dry and flavorless. We also found a hair in the salsa, parts of a plastic bag in one of the tacos, and never got the reorder of chips we requested. Perhaps we just caught them on an off day...?

We stopped here and three different kinds of their tacos. All 3 of them were the best I've ever had to eat. It should be on your list to try if you like tacos.
