フィードバックを提供するIt is wonderful to see a quality restaurant open up on the Tootgarook Foreshore, there are not too many Melbourne standard restaurants down here along the foreshore area of the Peninsula. The interior is stunning, beautiful lighting and paintings. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner...More
The food and wine was amazing! Good portions for the entrees, we had the tuna and the scallops. Stunning parfait :-)
Newly opened Veraison restaurant and bar in Tootgarook is off to a flying start with locals - we celebrated a birthday over lunch there this week -only to discover that two other groups had the same idea! This newcomer established an enviable reputation in Balnarring over past years but has transferred its entire operation to the other side of the peninsula and given Tootgarook a whole new dining experience. Our lunch was a casual affair on a chilly day it was cosy and welcoming with booth and table options inside. The lunch menu offered several creative dishes - our table opted for the salt and pepper calamari, barramundi and the home made fettucini with mini lamb meatballs. It was a nice surprise to find that the noise level was reduced to an amiable buzz of conversation between diners for once!! Staff were attentive and accommodated dietary requests with a smile and a solution. Desserts for some included chocolate torte and baked new york cheesecake -we were told the dessert menu will shortly expand to other in-house specialities .
Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our first lunch yesterday at the newly-opened Veraison at Tootgarook. Just for clarification, the new Veraison opened on 28 July so all reviews here prior to that date are of the old Veraison at the Bluestone Winery in Balnarring. Same people (Cherie and Mark), different venue. For a very new restaurant in a very quiet part of Mornington Peninsula, they are obviously doing something right because the place was almost full. Having been customers at the former venue, there was a warm welcome from Cherie and we got the impression that many of the other diners were also "known". If so, it's a well-deserved following. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced and contained so many attractive-sounding dishes that we had a hard time making our decisions. Two settled on the calamari, one on the duck and I had the scallops. For me, it was a serious toss up between the scallops and the bouillabaise so I'll have to try the latter on our next visit (although the scallops may be calling to me again). All of us declared our choices to have been the best. The wine list is smallish but contains some great wines. We enjoyed a couple of bottles of the Port Phillip Estate chardonnay and, next time, the Curly Flat chardonnay will get a workout. None of us really wanted dessert or coffee but Cherie talked us into sharing a serve of the cheesecake - very good. There's not a lot of parking at the front of the restaurant but there is plenty of space over on the foreshore opposite. Had it not been for the teeming rain, we would have gone for a wander along the beach afterwards.
Waitresses with no idea of what to do, hostess was very friendly. Food not much to say. Steak was ordered medium rare and came well done and dry.
