Great location near the LIRR and 495! There's a restaurant next door and a Starbucks in the lobby. The staff was fantastic! There was a small mix-up with our reservation, but the first thing they said was, "We'll make sure you have a room tonight," which was very reassuring after a long drive from Canada. The issue was resolved quickly. The room was a fair size for our group of three, with plenty of clean closet space. The pool and exercise rooms were well-maintained! The lobby store offered a good selection of food and drinks. Overall, we had a wonderful stay! We booked for Friday night (stayed in NYC on Saturday) and came back for Sunday night! Different staff, but the same excellent service!
The lobby of the hotel is lovely, and there’s ample parking available nearby. The parking lot is shared with several restaurants. The rooms have a bit of a hodgepodge feel, as the furniture seems to come from various Marriott hotels. I was upgraded to a suite because of my Ambassador status, and the room was quite spacious. Overall, it was a typical Courtyard experience, but the location is less than ideal for exploring local attractions.
If you’re like me and you stay at Marriott properties because you have certain expectations of your hotel stay, then please read this review. I was very disappointed in this hotel. I picked it for its location as well as being a Marriott brand, but it did not meet Marriott standards. While it’s had some updates it’s mostly lipstick on a pig. I also believe they false advertised as there is no restaurant in the hotel other than a Starbucks morning coffee kiosk basically. I picked the hotel so I could have a restaurant, get food and a cocktail. I do not want to have to walk to Smokey bones or red lobster to go to a restaurant when it clearly stated it had a restaurant. There was no safe in the room which makes me uncomfortable. There was no housekeeping so they are still using the Covid mantra to avoid housekeeping. There was no Keurig in the room just those cheap little coffee trays. And coffee in the lobby is not free. Perhaps worst of all was I did not sleep well because the highway is so loud. I was on the fourth floor and the traffic from the highway really disturbed my sleep. Also when I crawled into bed, the pillowcase was dirty with makeup which creeped me out further. Did they change the sheets? I paid $100 more a night in picking this hotel because I assumed it would be up to Marriott standards. Expensive and not worth it.
We visited for a family wedding and had rented several rooms. Unfortunately, out of the seven rooms booked by our immediate family, four had significant issues, including a broken phone in one, a malfunctioning shower in another, burnt-out light bulbs, a broken air conditioner, and a faulty fridge. The bar prices were exorbitant, charging $18 for a very weak drink. The food quality was disappointing, consisting primarily of pre-packaged, microwaveable options that were overpriced. Additionally, there were times when no one was available at the front desk to assist guests. Overall, a very unsatisfactory experience.
