Before traveling to Rome for the second time, I was looking for new places to eat rich and without spending much. Also a place that is next to the hotel where I stayed and La Carbonara appeared right on a street in my hotel. And the truth was a great discovery. After trying out their homemade tinquis, I was going to dinner every day, except for the weekend, I hear! you have to book on Fridays and Saturdays. If you want to eat very well, do not hesitate to visit this site. They also have an excellent wine list.
Went for dinner March 12, followed up with lunch the day after touring coliseum. It was fantastic. Known for their carbonara, we decided to try some of their authentic Roma staples from the menu. The gnocchi and artichoke pasta absolutely the best. Rosie took care of us by starting off with a charcuterie appetizer and recommended a perfect local red. For lunch the next day we did the carbonara and oxtail. Don’t just limit yourself to the carbonara. It was awesome but this gem of a restaurant was exactly the Rome experience we we were looking for. Get a reservation! It’s helps to queue you in if they’re busy. Tourists early locals late. As for dessert, the tiramisu was spectacular as usual. But the pistachio cream with caramel was a top 5 for us. The owner (forgot her name) makes it herself and you can taste the that was unlike any dessert we had. Anywhere.
The carbonara was delicious and the staff were friendly. They made recommendations to us on what to have and it was all lovely. Go a little later, from 8pm, to miss the tourist crowd. Fantastic meal and would definitely go again
Quite popular with tourists and a bit casual but good food. We had 2 different bruschettas , pasta La carbonera which was excellent and a good tagliatelle porchini with a nice bottle of red wine. Recommended
