Il Girasole - Roma

Food was not very good, pizza was dreadful. Pasta was average at best. Service is slow. So many better choices in the area .

Found this lovely little spot by chance. We had walked by earlier and came back to eat. Traveling with two very hungry boys (20 17) so good food at fair prices is important but I also wanted them to get the Roman experience and this delivered. I had bruschetta and a capresse salad having eaten some amazing pasta for lunch. Both were beautiful and tasty. The balsamic and oil came on the side for the salad which was nice because it allowed me to control the dressing to my taste. The Burrata was so fresh I wonder if it is house made. My eldest had the sea bass which came whole on the plate and fresh stir fry vegetables both of which he devoured and declared amazing. The 17-yo, a pizza connoisseur, declared his Margherita pizza delicious. The atmosphere was also amazing. The walls are stripped back to their original brick facade so you feel like you're in the original Roman room despite the fact that it was rainy outside. There was also live piano music that started around 19:30. Overall quite amazing. Service was delivered to accurately and cheerfully in English as needed, as I managed ok in Italian but my boys needed the translation.

Great restaurant. We both had the best spaghetti carbonara we'd ever had. Sadly I couldn't eat all mine because I was full even though I wanted to. I really wanted dessert but knew I wouldn't be able to eat. Husband ordered a tiramisu and I did manage to try it and it was really good. We had a half litre of house wine which was also very good. There was also a pianist to entertain us. Staff were very pleasant, prices reasonable. Would definitely recommend a visit

The best charcoal of roma. If you want to eat the true Roman cuisine, away from the classic places for tourists, this is the right place. warm and welcoming place, you feel at home, not to mention the super portions! one of my favorite places
