The Rocky Cape Tavern

This ordinary looking country pub produces sensational food.

We booked into the Rocky Cape caravan park for a couple of nights so we could do our washing and top up with water. The overnight rate was very reasonable and if we decided not to use any power or their amenities I could have stayed for FREE.The owners advertise a different cheap meal every night so after cooking in our caravan the first night we decided to have a meal in the Tavern. The meal on offer was Chicken Parmigiana and it was delightful. It came with mixed vegetables (at a small extra cost).Being in a hotel you can go into their small bottle shop to select a bottle of wine (at a reasonable price too). My suggestion is to get to the restaurant before 6.30pm as these cheap meal nights are VERY popular. The lovely young man who served us was the manager and son of the owner.

Enjoyed a meal on Good Friday eve, very busy pleased we booked.While a "pub" the menu would be better than some city menus.Pleasantly surprised and was not disappointed.Baked camembert with homemade beetroot chutney foe starters ( could be a meal if not really hungry) two good-sized crumbed wedges and a side salad.Two of use had the Tassie Seafood taster plate...flat head tails ,scallops ,oysters and shark accompanied with salad and chips ( can have veggies)an amazing homemade tartar sauce.One other had the alpaca sausages, 3 huge sausages with vegies and homemade chutney...looked good and received a rave review.Worth pulling off for a meal.

This tavern offers free camping at the rear of the premises, so it is quite busy with campers taking advantage of the cheap meals. We went on a Tuesday night and the nightly special was Rump Steak, chips and salad for $14! That was a stroke of luck!! It was absolutely delicious. You do have to wait a while, as they are a bit busy, but it's worth the wait. You can also order desserts for $8.

Great place, great bar and dinner meals. Typically a country pub awesome $14 special meals, and great camping out back to free camp or powered site . 4 out of 5 stars ????
