Rochester Wine Tavern

Wonderful hosts go out of there way to make your night special,also do a local winery tour if you would like. We often go here for a group dinner ,they have regular live music nights,also serve many speciality beers, stouts and wines.

Service on arrival was slow to greet us we should have known better. Ordered a wine and a beer for pre-lunch drinks. Ordered our meal at the same time and to our surprise they pretty much arrived together. I am not fussy and I don't think I have ever not finished a meal, however that was the case here meat dry, broccolini burnt, sauce reduced to an inch of its life. Waitress asked about our meals and I couldn't answer. Owner/Manager saw my plate and asked when I didn't offer a response he would not take our money.This was appreciated but to little to late. Not for me.

The presentation of the food was really good and we both really enjoyed our meal, the young man who served us was very attentive and a nice.

A restored hotel, this facility is warm, friendly and welcoming. Wine selection is extensive, all local wines and prices are reasonable. Ideal location for group events ranging from formal to informal. We will return.

After several winery stops north of Heathcote, This place was mentioned by a couple of them and we stopped in for a drink and look around on our way through to Echuca.Doug the proprietor was most welcoming and friendly. Served us without hesitation and showed us around his premises. Made and exception for our little group of 12 people and took us to the balcony where we had a good view of Rochester.When we went downstairs again, he showed us the outdoor area's, dinner/lunch area's and about the live music he has there once a month.What he did then was great, offered up a bottle of wine to the winner of the best story told for the weekend on our little bus trip and told us that should we want to come back for dinner as a group he would make sure the live music was put on for us no matter if it was due for that weekend or not.Fantastic service and a must to drop in and hear about the region from this guy.Well RWT.
