Los Gallos Taqueria - Reno

Wonderful place with delicious food! I met a couple of employees today, and everyone agreed that the dining experience was fantastic.

Delicious food! The chips were fantastic! Although it was a bit on the pricey side, the food was really enjoyable and was prepared by someone who takes great pride in his home region of Jalisco. I had the Super-Quadilla ($12), which was quite large and came with chips and salsa. They provided us with ten containers of salsa for our two orders of chips. The chicken and carnitas were both very fresh and flavorful. The green salsa was tasty but a bit tangy for my liking. I wasn’t a fan of the other salsas—a decent pico de gallo and a spicier orange-red salsa. The decor is dominated by roosters, including a large image related to cockfighting, and there’s a beautiful painting of the owner's father with his rooster, which I found charming.

When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't too crowded, which I appreciated. I was impressed by the extensive menu options and the interesting pictures on the walls. We both ordered the same dish, but one of the enchiladas was missing. As someone from Texas who has enjoyed both Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican cuisine my entire life, I've often found myself disappointed by my dining experiences from California to Washington. However, I must say that this time was different. Writing this, I was reminded of my childhood meals, so I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Much better (and significantly cheaper) than the overpriced casino foods all over the street. but what I really liked was authenticity. great little place.

We stopped here from California and was probably the best Mexican food spot we had there in Reno. The micheladas were so good we ordered seconds. Everything was very tasty and yes was a little pricey but they had big portions for every plate! I love how the elder man was walking around making sure everything was clean and that everyone was satisfied! Such a great little spot that is very busy and you might even have to wait to sit down and eat but its worth the wait!
