Kauboi Izakaya - Reno

Amazing Japanese food. We had two orders to die. We had huge squid that was so delicious. The mood was great in the restaurant, but there was a waiting time, so we sat at the bar. That was cool because we could see everything.

This place has amazing food! Most of the plates seemed tapas the chicken Yakitori was with Wasabi-green onions from this world. The short rib with the Fresno-miso sauce was very creative and paired amazingly with the asparagus. But as hard as the kitchen works, the service was slow. Over 20 minutes to get the check, no beverage refills, and they certainly don't return to see if we liked our food, I thought that was kind of weird as she didn't seem so busy. No desserts on the menu, and the cocktails were expensive compared to what you can get from the bars nearby.

My new favorite restaurant! Friends brought us here for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! The reistas are a must! The staff was super friendly and the menu was like nothing I had before! I really liked the atmosphere. ve has some beautiful wild decorations! This is a great place to take friends or family. I suggest you eat here if you? re visit Reno!

I had a great experience at this restaurant. There was something for everyone in our group, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to sample a variety of small dishes. The braised short ribs are an absolute must-try!

Although the prices are on the higher side, the food is exceptional, with generous portions and outstanding service. The atmosphere is inviting and pleasant. Upon our arrival, we were informed that there would be a 30-minute wait. The hostess was attentive and skillfully managed multiple responsibilities. We chose to wait outside, where we were promptly served drinks. We enjoyed sitting at the bar across from the grill, which provided entertaining views. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring we never felt neglected. The food was remarkable—the wagyu beef (which I regrettably forgot to photograph before it was gone) was tender and juicy, practically melting in our mouths. The shrimp and shiitake mushrooms were delicious and perfectly cooked, not overly fried. Despite the longer wait time of about 30 minutes, everything was worth it. The music and ambiance were modern and relaxed, with soft lighting that changed as dusk fell, blending a contemporary Western style with subtle Japanese elements, reminiscent of a bistro or steakhouse. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this restaurant for a first date or celebrations.
