Lim's Cafe - Redding

I have known the Lim family for years and grew up around their restaurant, one of the oldest in Shasta County. In a time when many establishments had discriminatory signs up, Lim's was one of the few that welcomed American Indians like my family. I highly recommend trying their delicious beef chow mein.

Lim's Cafe is our family's favorite restaurant for delicious Chinese cuisine in Northern California. During our recent visit, we enjoyed the special Beef Tomato Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour Pork. We also ordered a dinner for two, which came with a delightful appetizer plate. Lim's Cafe uses high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes that have been perfected over the past 80 years. The food is always delicious, and the restaurant has been owned and operated by the Lim family since its opening. It is a true gem that will have you returning for more. Additionally, their breakfast menu includes the best patty sausage in town!

The chop suey with BBQ pork was amazing. My aunt has been coming to this restaurant for years and treated us to dinner. We are grateful to have discovered this hidden gem in Reading. The service was excellent, with a waitress who was attentive and good-humored. I initially thought she was the owner due to her exceptional service.

This was always the favorite past 30 years, however we went in for dinner 10-1-21 and smoke engulfed inside, doors open to let smoke out. We were seated, tables were not clean. While we were waiting to give our order a cockroach scurried under our feet. My husband killed it and 2 more crawled around our feet! So disappointing how run down Lim’s has gotten. Now I know why they’re keeping it so dark in there. Won’t return!

There are not enough stars, I give lims 10. I've never had a chinese touch, and now I'm not sure I've ever left another. my wife had the biscuits and gravy, also phenomenal. rae and dawn were amazing, they made sure that we were well dealt. Now that we know our new breakfast café, we have to have lunch and dinner. I also recommend them.
