The restaurant was virtually swarming with trainee waiting staff- I counted 18 staff but there were others in areas behind me. Perhaps the restaurant is partnered to some sort of hospitality training school- I can't believe there would be such numbers on full pay on a Sunday. We placed our drinks orders but when they arrived they were hopelessly mixed up. Another waitress took them again- then the second mix-up. Then a waiter tried again and got it wrong. Finally got drinks sorted and ordered a bottle of wine to have with our lunch. Firstly, a waitress arrived with one glass of wine which she took back when we said we ordered a bottle. Then the bottle arrived but it was the wrong one. Flnally got the wine sorted. We all ordered oysters as the entrée, only to be told after waiting that they had "run out of oysters". At 12.20 pm? We skipped entrees. One friend had the barramundi, which she said was very good. My other friend and I had the pork and prawn stir fry. I had five prawns but no pork that I could see; my friend had some rather tough pork and one prawn! The whole thing was overcooked and soggy and drowned in soy sauce. A really amateur attempt at a stir fry. When we went to pay, there were several items on our bill from another table. This was sorted pretty quickly. The noise made by the diners was incredible. We found it hard to converse. Constant announcements were made over the PA system and there were loud thumping sounds coming from their gym near the restaurant. We had not been to Lions for a few years because of repeated disasters with their food. It was hugely disappointing to find that today , at least for us, things were much the same in spite of the massive make-over. We will give it one more try in a couple of months- surely it can only improve..
After over one and a half hours we gave up and left No one came over and checked on us for drinks (and the waitresses were just standing around talking to each other)We will not go back there again with the prices I would have expected a whole lot better
Dined here for a family get together and was appalled at the cut back meal sizing and the significantly increased prices. Staff were nice but service lacked badly. Waited over an hour for our meals. The club is in full swing with refurbishment so I guess the patrons are paying for it when you dine here. Will never return and we have been regulars here for years.
My wife and I visited Lions Richlands for dinner with a friend from Canada. Between us we had steak, fish & chicken and all were tasty, filling and reasonably priced. The meals were served quit fast and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We'll be back.
After trying the $8.90 lunch special at Christmas, myself and 2 of my local Chicks Camping Crew members decided to celebrate Valentines Day with dinner at the club. Since christmas this has now gone to a very simplified limited menu at $15 - couple of chicken dishes, 1 200g steak, Angus Pie, Hamburger, Fish n Chips - like I said - simple and basic ....and that's what we got - I opted for the Chicken Schnitzel as it was lauded as being crumbed on premises and I do believe it was - I'd say it was half a breast by the size of it - small serving of chips & salad with a very watery but strangely tasty gravy in a little pot on the side. The other two ladies had the 200g steak and the pork steak (teeney tiney on that one and it looked so dry) but said it was OK.....We cleaned our plates, I didn't get to finish my salad as I had put my cutlery down to ..well...chew when the plates were whisked away...I'm pretty sure they were aiming for a high turnover but really, it wasn't that busy. We had table service which was very nice and a nice touch and the 55+ discount brought two of the meals down to $12.45 so I aint complaining. Noise levels right up there with announcements of raffles etc and also "table 45 etc your meal is ready" which I thought was odd seeing as though it was table service, but as it was pointed out...maybe they were in playing the pokies, which is to be encouraged after all, as it subsidises those $12.45 meals. There was also a special on that night for $21.90 - same meals but free garlic bread and your choice of a glass of beer, house wine or soft drink...but y'know..doing the right thing driving. Really looking forward to a more extensive menu, but I think it will be a long wait with renovations slated to be finishing around August - chicken, pies, hamburgers anyone?
